Sounders fall to FC Dallas, drop in standings

Just when things started looking good for the Seattle Sounders, their four-game undefeated streak came to an end against Dallas FC on May 25.

The Sounders ended up losing the game 1-0, sliding to the third spot in the MLS Western Conference. Brek Shea scored the only goal of the game, thanks to a well-played pass by Andrew Jacobson.

The Sounders almost scored a goal of their own shortly after, but a well-timed header from defender Zach Loyd robbed Seattle of the opportunity to even things out. The Sounders didn't get many other looks in the first half of the match, leaving Dallas goalkeeper Kevin Hartman with plenty of energy for the second half. The Sounders played better offensively in the second half, but were unable to get anything past Hartman.

Sounders goalkeeper Kasey Keller played a major part in Seattle's victory against Kansas City, but the final-year veteran wasn't as impressive in Wednesday's encounter. Keller was seriously tested twice against Dallas and ended up conceding the only goal of the match.

Goals were scarce in the May 25 encounter between the Sounders and Dallas FC, even though both teams got decent looks at the goal. Dallas FC goalkeeper Kevin Hartman stole the show, preventing the Sounders from getting goals with his impressive play.

Even though Dallas FC now moves into the second spot in the MLS Western Conference with the win over Seattle, the Sounders will still have many more chances to climb up the table. Dallas has been very impressive recently, shutting out all opponents in its last five games. Given the fact the Sounders are still missing key players like O'Brian White, who isn't expected to be back anytime soon, a loss to a streaking team like Dallas isn't the end of the world.

The Sounders' next game will be on the road against Real Salt Lake, who are currently tied with Seattle for the third spot in the MLS Western Conference with 17 points. The match will very competitive and the Sounders will hope to have a better outing this time around.
