The San Antonio Silver Stars were able to take back control of their season when they faced the Seattle Storm on July 14. The Silver Stars managed to snap their three game losing streak against the Storm in a tightly contested basketball game, winning 69-66.
Rookie Danielle Adams lit the Storm up during their last encounter against the Silver Stars, finishing with a game high 23 points.
The win against the Storm helped the Silver Stars secure the second spot in the WNBA's Western Conference, while sending Seattle towards the bottom of the pack. Since the July 14 encounter between the two teams, things have been looking good for the Silver Stars, while the Storm have been unable to win a game.
The Storm will be looking for some payback against the Silver Stars when the two teams meet for the second time in the 2011 WNBA regular season. The Storm have been solid on their home court going 5-1 in the 2011 WNBA regular season, and they feel they should have won the last encounter between the two teams.
"We did have a rough shooting night, and we still had a chance to win," Seattle guard Sue Bird said after the July 14 encounter between the two teams. "I think that speaks to our toughness and our defense. We always give ourselves a chance, and tonight it just didn't work out for us. We were right there; it just didn't work out."
The Silver Stars currently trail the Phoenix Mercury by half a game for the top spot in the WNBA's Western Conference, and are tied with the Minnesota Lynx for the second spot in the west. With the way things are looking for the Silver Stars, they cannot afford to lose any games right now.
