Seattle Storm get payback against Silver Stars

The Seattle Storm were able to get some payback against the Seattle Sounders, winning the July 21 encounter between the two teams 73-55. The last time the two teams met, the Silver Stars snapped their losing streak against Seattle, while the Storm started a losing streak of their own.

This time around, the Silver Stars had one of their worst performances of the season, shooting 27.7 percent from the field. The Silvers Stars didn't do a good job of containing the Storm either, allowing their opponents to shoot 49.1 percent from the field, while converting on eight of their seventeen three point attempts. The Seattle Storm were so dominant in the first half, the Silver Stars never really had a chance in the second half.

Tanisha Wright led the Storm against the Silver Stars, finishing with a game high 17 points. Wright also added 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals to her total numbers.

"That's the kind of basketball we want to play right there -- I don't know any way else to put it," Wright told reporters after the game. "That's the kind of basketball we want to play, we need to play, and in order to be successful, we have to play. We wanted to go into the [All-Star] break on a good note after that three-game skid."

Even though she shot the ball rather poorly, Sophia Young led the Silver Stars in scoring, finishing the game with 12 points and 3 rebounds. Rookie Danielle Adams, who had an excellent performance against the Storm in the last encounter, finished the game with only one point.

With the loss, the Silver Stars slide down to the third spot in the WNBA's Western Conference. The Silver Stars will suit up next on July 26, when they face the Washington Mystics. The Silver Stars are only one game behind the Minnesota Lynx who currently hold the top spot in the western conference.
