The Miami Heat continue to disprove all of their critics, defeating the Boston Celtics 98-90 in Game 4 of their second round NBA playoff series. Many so-called experts and fans prematurely awarded the NBA Eastern Conference title to the Celtics, claiming their size and depth would too much for the Heat.
Those folks must feel rather silly right now, since the Heat are leading the Celtics 3-1 in the series. The size and depth of the Celtics that has been talked about all season, doesn't seem to be working out that well for the defending NBA Eastern Conference champions.
Game 4 was a must win for the Heat, since they didn't want to go back to Miami tied two games apiece with the Celtics. Both teams refused to budge, and the score was the tied in the final minute of regulation. LeBron tried to setup the go-ahead bucket but lost control of the ball. On the ensuing Celtics possession, Paul Pierce missed a shot that would have given the Celtics the win. In overtime, the Heat started pulling away, and a Chris Bosh tip-back secured the win for the new "big three" in the east.
After Celtics forward Kevin Garnett's huge game against Miami in Game 3, the Heat made containing him their number one priority. Miami executed flawlessly, holding Garnett to a shameful 10 percent field goal percentage.
LeBron James led the Miami Heat in Game 4, finishing the game with 35 points and 14 rebounds. Dwyane also put up some solid numbers, scoring 28 points for the Heat. Wade's energy throughout the game was a huge factor in the Heat's success as he was all over the court the entire game. Chris Bosh who struggled against the Celtics in Game 3, came out strong in their May 9 encounter. Bosh had 20 points and 12 rebounds in Game 4 and his final field goal in overtime sealed the deal for Miami.
What a year of basketball, the San Antonio Spurs are out, so are the Los Angeles Lakers, and it seems like the Celtics will be joining them shortly.
