Working out has always been an important part of my life ever since my teenage years. My earlier years of working out were very frustrating as I never saw the results I desired. I spent more time working out then than I do now, but because I did not really have the knowledge needed to properly push my body, most of my workouts were for the most part a waste of my time.
One of the most important parts of getting fit is to understand your particular body type and what makes it different from other body types. The are three body types: Endomorph, Ectomorph and Mesomorph. Endomorph refers to those with slow metabolism. Endomorphs easy gain weight and usually have the hardest time losing it. Ectomorphs are typically skinny people who have a very hard time putting on any extra pounds. They have the fastest metabolism of the three groups. Mesomorphs have the preferred body types of the three. They can gain or lose weight rather easily and are typically the most athletic of the three body types.
With the differences between the body types, it is very important that you develop your workout routine according to your body's metabolism. Ectomorphs can lose weight with little exercise and dieting, while endomorphs will need vigorous exercise and diet plans to lose any significant amount of weight. Mesomorphs are right in between the other groups and will have a harder time losing weight compared to Ectomorphs, but a easier time putting on muscle.
The type of exercise routing you do also needs to be modified according to your goals. Those than want to gain muscle should lift heavier weights, and aim for 4-7 reps per set. Those who want to burn of fat and leave their bodies nice and toned should lift lighter weights(around 12-20 reps per set). Getting a full body workout is also important and exercise routines should include all major muscle groups.
Aerobic exercises should also be incorporated as they are very effective at burning off fat. Aerobic exercises include running, cardio kickboxing and dancing. Mesomorphs and Endomorphs in particular need to stick with their aerobic exercise routines, as failing to do so can result in unwanted weight gain. However, Ectomorphs can get away with missing a few aerobic routines.
With the design and implementation of the proper workout routine. You will discover how easy it can be to stay in shape and achieve the body you have always dreamed of.
