Bill Maher Calls President Obama a Wimp

Popular HBO comedian Bill Maher criticized president Barack Obama, calling him "wimpy and wussy," according to BusinessInsider. Maher made his comments during an interview with CNN's Fareed Zakaria, while conversing on numerous hot topics in the nation. Maher commented on his disappointment on the way president Obama and his administration handled the healthcare controversy, blaming them for being too eager to compromise, thus having to forfeit the public option.

While Maher rarely agrees with anything from the conservative right wing, he admired the way the Republicans are able to stay united through their ranks and stick to their principles. He expressed his desire for a tougher Obama, not a president who would be all too willing to compromise the liberal agenda in order to placate conservatives. This is not the first time Maher has used such words to describe Democrats, as he has made such comments on his popular Friday night show. Despite his harsh criticism of President Obama, he stated he still liked the president and only wished he would get tougher.

Maher is not the first famous supporter of Obama to turn against him. Billionaire Mort Zuckerman has also expressed his disappointment in the Obama administration. In an interview with Fox news host Neil Cavuto, Zuckerman criticized Obama and the Democrats on the way they handled the healthcare bill, stimulus and financial reform. He felt the Democrats should have addressed the issue of healthcare costs before trying to expand its coverage. Zukerman also criticized the stimulus plan, claiming many of the funds were allocated to programs that did not have anything to do with reviving the economy. When asked about financial reform, he expressed his dislike for how the Obama administration went after Wall Street. That does not really come as a surprise, as Zuckerman is a popular Wall Street guy who probably had high profit margins during the deregulation era.

Nobel Prize-winner Paul Krugman also criticized the President on his blog for not sticking to his beliefs. The Princeton professor was unhappy with the fact the Obama administration was not able to get the public option and ended up compromising. Krugman supported president Obama during his campaign.

Comedian John Stewart has routinely called out inconsistencies in President Obama's campaign promises. He has constantly made jokes on how the Obama administration handled the war in Afghanistan, healthcare transparency and the closing of Guantanamo Bay prison facilities, according to Newsbusters. While he was an outspoken supporter of the Obama campaign, he has been one of the President's most honest critics.

With supporters of the Obama administration dwindling, the President must find a way to bring his supporters back if he wants to be re-elected. He needs to pay more attention to what his supporters want, and deliver on the many promises he made during his campaign.
