Floyd Mayweather KO's Victor Ortiz
Floyd Mayweather Jr. outclassed WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz in their Sept. 17 encounter, finishing the 24 year old boxer in the fourth round. Mayweather out-classed Ortiz in the first three rounds, using his precise counter-punches to overwhelm the WBC welterweight champion.
Ortiz made a few decent adjustments in the third round, trapping Mayweather against the ropes and smothering the pound-for-pound best boxer in the world. In the heat of the moment, Ortiz lost his composure, lunging at the cornered Mayweather with a clearly intentional head-butt. After Ortiz’ head-butt, class obviously went out the window, and Mayweather responded in kind.
While Ortiz tried to apologize for the head-butt, Mayweather immediately went after the WBC welterweight champion, sending him to the ground with a sharp combination. Ortiz was unable to recover from the blows, becoming the 42nd man to fall to Mayweather.
Besides Manny Pacquiao, it's rather obvious there is no boxer alive that can challenge Mayweather at this point.

Vick Propels Philadelphia Eagles to 31-13 Win Over Rams
Quarterback Michael Vick was in full form in the Philadelphia Eagles 2011 NFL season opener, leading his teammates to a 31-13 victory over the St. Louis Rams.
The Rams struck first in the Sept. 11 encounter between the two NFC teams, thanks to Steven Jackson's 47-yard punt return for a touchdown. The Eagles offense answered back in their next possession, moving the ball 80 yards down the field for their first touchdown of the game.
The Eagles added another touchdown in the first quarter, thanks to a fumble forced by Darryl Tapp. Both offenses slowed down in the second quarter, settling for a field goal apiece.
In the second half of the game, the Rams had no answers for the Eagles defense, putting up only three points to Philadelphia's 14.
Vick was certainly the biggest reason for the Eagles success, throwing for 187 yards and two touchdowns. Vick also caused major problems for the Rams defense on the ground, finishing the game with 98 rushing yards.
"It felt great to know that I can go out and play lights-out, not have to worry about anything," Vick told reporters after the game. "I feel better than I've ever felt before and I give a lot of credit with the situation with the CBA, giving us a lot time to get rest and to prepare ourselves. I feel like I can play another four quarters right now."
LeSean McCoy was also outstanding for the Eagles, averaging 8.1 yards per carry against the Rams. McCoy finished the game with 122 yards and a touchdown for Philadelphia. DeSean Stevenson was Vick's favorite target against St. Louis, finishing the game with 102 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Philadelphia fans can be proud of the way the Eagles handled their first game of the season against St. Louis. The Eagles next game will be against the Atlanta Braves on Sept. 18, and Philadelphia fans can expect Vick to put on another impressive performance.

Overeem’s UFC debut set for Dec. 30 against Brock Lesnar

The MMA fight is scheduled to take place at UFC 141, the promotion’s last event of the year. The targeted date is December 30, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
UFC president Dana White confirmed the MMA fight via tweeter after the LA times broke the story.
The UFC will definitely be closing out the year with a bang, when Overeem and Lesnar collide inside the Octagon. The MMA fight is obviously a classic grappler vs. striker matchup, but with two enormous individuals.
It will be interesting to find out who is able to impose their will when these two MMA veterans meet inside the Octagon in December. Lesnar has been really good taking and keeping people down so far, but for the first time in his career, he’ll be going up against an equally large MMA fighter in Overeem.
If Lesnar is able to keep Overeem down, he shouldn’t have any problems winning the MMA fight. I don’t think it’s going to be that easy though, and UFC fans should expect an all out war.

5 Teams to Watch in the 2011/12 NFL Season
With the NFL lockout a thing of the past, the 2011 regular season is about to start. Many of the great teams of the 2010/11 NFL season will be back in full force, and a few surprise teams will surely emerge. Here are five teams every NFL fan will want to keep an eye on this season.
1. New England Patriots
Even though they didn't do as well as they planned in the last post-season, the Patriots still have the strongest team in the NFL. With Chad Ochocinco now a part of the team, defenses will have major problems keeping Tom Brady under control.
2. Philadelphia Eagles
The Super-bowl winning Green Bay Packers cut the Eagles post-season short last season, but we've certainly not seen the last of them. With quarterback Michael Vick fully in control of the team, the Eagles should have one of the best offenses in the league. The Eagles have also buffed up their passing defense with the addition of Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.
3. Green Bay Packers
The Packers championship run wasn't a fluke, and NFL fans can expect another strong season from them. With a majority of the 2010/11 roster coming back to the team, there isn't a team in the NFL they can't compete with. Expect more great things from Aaron Rodgers in the 2011/12 NFL season.
4. San Diego Chargers
Quarterback Phillip Rivers should be on his way to another impressive season, given the new additions to the Charger team. San Diego added veteran linebackers Takeo Spike and safety Bob Sanders to their defense during the off-season, not to mention rookie Corey Liuget who was selected 19th overall in the 2011 NFL draft.
5. Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons still have a lot of growing up to do, but their future looks bright. Matt Ryan has a few new targets to throw the ball at (Julio Jones will be his number one option of course), and I expect him to get his first post-season victory come playoff time.
